Jenny Jump Up

We bought Emrick a bouncer tonight. These pictures are of her first time in it, and she's in love! A little confused, but very happy to be at Jacob's eye level. She was spinning herself around and around, then she would laugh ! I think we are going to have fun with this bouncer!

Today

Today started early. Both kids decided that 5:30 was a great time to wake this morning. Even though we usually are awake by 6, that extra half hour of sleep makes a huge difference. And Emrick has been having issues sleeping lately. Waking twice in the night to eat. Not too bad, but definitely a step back from the sleeping through the whole night thing we had going on for about two whole months. She is four months old today. Happy fourth month birthday, Emrick!

Our plans for the day include the park. I cleaned the kitchen floor and took the broken microwave to the basement. We haven't had a microwave for a week and a half and we hardly miss it. In fact, most of the time I actually forget that it's broken. And, man, does my kitchen look bigger with that thing out of the way. So don't be surprised if the next time you come to my house for popcorn, I break out the air popper.

Seventeen Weeks

Seventeen weeks. Bet you thought I lost count by now! Nope. Just lazy. Emrick will be exactly four months old tomorrow and has her check-up on Monday morning. I have no idea how long she is, but I think she is between thirteen and fourteen pounds. I can tell you for sure on Monday! As far as development, she is just perfect. She scootches herself all around by pushing with her feet. She cannot be left on the sofa or bed alone because of this. She rolls from belly to back and chews her fingers constantly. Jacob loves her to pieces and so do Burger and myself. So funny to think that last year at this time, we had just found out we were going to be having another baby. Burger knew instantly that he would have a daughter. That was just one year ago! How a twinkle in your eye becomes a large chunk of your heart in no time!

What to Say

Tuesday, Tuesday, Tuesday... I feel like I have so much to say but I don't know where to start. And none of it is very interesting. But, since I've left you hanging since last Thursday, you're probably ready for me to ramble, huh? So I am just going to start talking and since you're already reading this, why stop now? My mom has Jacob today and my house is quiet. Very nice. Thanks Mom! Emrick and I went to Wal-Mart and got ketchup and butter. Now we're home and I am in love with my central air conditioning!

Yesterday we went to Dairy Queen and Burger ordered a banana split but they told him no because they were out of bananas. How does DQ run out of bananas? There's a Hy-Vee two blocks down the road, go get some. Burger ordered a blizzard instead but was extremely disappointed. Poor guy.

I chopped off all of my hair last night. I loved it at first but now the more I look at it, I'm not sure. When Burger gets home I'm going to have him take a decent picture so I can show all of you who don't care enough to drive over here and see for yourself.

Yesterday a friend from the YMCA called me and invited Jacob, Emrick, and me to come over and play in their kiddie pool. We went and had some fun. She said that we are invited every Monday for the rest of summer. She is trying to find ways to entertain her three year old while her baby is napping! I think she's very smart.

Jacob likes to pretend that Elmo is with us. Elmo drives a red mini van and is a girl. She doesn't eat because Jacob won't share and she knows how to buckle herself into the car. She rides in our car often, but I haven't figured out why since she has her own red van. Why aren't we taking her car more often? There would be tons more room. Also, Jacob and Elmo don't like Cookies Monster.

Emrick is a baby. She's cute and mostly snuggly. Since we have been giving her the Playtex Drop-In bottles she's chilled out a lot. Not sure if it's the bottles or just her getting bigger. Whatever, I'll take it! She now fits into her Target brand knock-offs of Robeez slippers and I love them! I just wish they would make a sandal type one like Robeez does. Or at least a plain basic colored one. But I guess that just means I have to buy more so she can have ones to match every outfit. Get used to our Target knock-offs. She will be wearing them often.

Well, this is the end of my yammering. I still feel like I have more to tell you, but I'm sure you don't care to hear any more. Well, I figure if you actually wanted to be entertained, you wouldn't waste your time on my blog! So, it kind of serves ya right.

Really, People?

If you can tell me what kind of baby this is, I will let you hold it!

Today we went to Walgreens and Hy-Vee in search of the pacifiers that Emrick takes. They used to sell them everywhere but now I can apparently only get them at Hy-Vee, in blue and green. Oh well. We got some and that's all that matters in this house! But, we were questioned three separate times about the gender of my ruffle shirt, skirt wearing infant. And obviously the name Emrick doesn't help any! She is almost four months old and I haven't once been asked her gender, until today. And it kind of caught me off guard!

Another Day

Well, we made it to Thursday. With a microwave that won't heat things and a car whose ABS won't shut off. All in all, not too terrible. Today is rainy and stormy so we are most likely just going to stay home and hang out. Also not too keen on driving my car with the brakes they way they are until someone can figure something out! So, home it is. We all need a break today, anyhow.

Emrick loves her new walker and also still loves her blanky. She watches the television and gets really into it. Her favorite show is Thomas the Tank Engine, Jacob enjoys that. Since we have hard flooring she scoots herself around like a pro! I went through all her clothes yesterday and got out the ones that are too small or out of season. Know anyone who needs girl clothes? I think I have enough to dress an army if infant girls.

Her New Blanky

Emrick's new blanky. I'm not sure how she's going to learn anything new when she won't part with the blanky for even a split second.

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday, everyone! The weekend was really crazy and more stressful than I would have liked, but we made it through. I'm exhausted and just writing a quick post before I make my way to the sofa for an early afternoon nap. Yay! Both of the kids are sleeping right now, crazy huh? Emrick got a walker over the weekend and a new snuggle thing that is in the picture. My mom had the kids at her house yesterday and Emrick found this fabric and hasn't let go of it for one second since she first grabbed it. It's silky and red. She snuggles it in her car seat and her swing and her walker, but especially when she's sleeping. Jacob is doing well. We enjoyed a trip to the park after stroller fitness class today. I think a trip to Starbucks is called for later. Maybe we'll wait for Burger to get home from work and drag him with us!

TGIF

A cute baby to make this post not-so-bad!

TGIF? Hahaha! Not today. Burger is working late. He is also working a full ten hour day tomorrow and a full eight hour day on Sunday. No weekend for us. I will be welcoming the massive paycheck next weekend, but this weekend I'm bummed. And a little bit lonely.

In other news, I put Emrick in a big car seat instead of her carrier car seat today. She is now buckled into Jacob's old Graco Comfort Sport when ever we decide to leave the house. This could get interesting people, you don't know!

And on that note, I was thinking the other day that all I talk about is my kiddos and what we did today and same-old same-old. I was trying to think of an interesting topic to talk about on here and it dawned on me that I don't have anything else to talk about. I am my kids, all the time. I am Mom. I am Wife. I don't go to coffee bars and talk politics. I don't go to clubs and talk music/celebrities. I have absolutely nothing to talk about. I have no other experiences to build conversation from. Boo-hoo, tears and what not. But, seriously, a person called my house the other day taking a poll for some Iowa government thing. Like maybe we will be electing a new governor soon? I don't know, couldn't tell ya. The only reason I answered is because the number kept calling and calling like five times a day for days in a row. The point of the story is, I only knew one name out of the five or six she asked my opinion on. And the only reason I even knew the one name is because he is the governor of Iowa. I am so out of the politic loop that I can't even see the mirage in the desert. Does that even make any sense? Probably not.

Tuesday Tuesday!

Today we went to the park for almost two hours and Jacob had a blast in the sand box! Saturday we went to my brother's wedding reception and had a good time. Sunday we were lazy then went grocery shopping. Yesterday I argued with Qwest on the phone and almost cancelled my service with them because they were rude. I didn't cancel and now I have to pay an extra $25 on my next bill. Figure that one out. So, that's kind of how my week has been. Emrick is getting bigger every single day. She started gagging and choking on her bottle last week so I bought all new nipples and that just made it worse. So today we got different bottles and now she's all good. High maintenance girl baby. We are looking for either a walker or a Jumparoo for Emrick. I never like the idea of a Jumparoo but we were at my friend's house today and she has one for her baby and Emrick tried it and was totally in love! She was bouncing all over the place and laughing at the toys. It was super cute! But I'm not buying a new one because they are around $90 and I'm cheap. We aren't having any more babies and I don't want to spend that kind of money. Even if I had that kind of money to spend... So, if you or anyone you know is looking to sell a baby walker or Jumparoo for a reasonable price, let me know!

Laziness

Today we are just hanging out at home. We may or may not venture to the park later. It's beautiful weather outside but I am being incredibly lazy! We had soup for lunch and just sitting around on the sofa watching cartoons all day and playing trains. I think everyone needs a day like this every once in a while. Emrick has been super tired and borderline grumpy all day. So she is mostly hanging out in her swing, napping. Jacob played in the backyard for a few minutes, but he is enjoying hanging on the sofa with me. Hopefully the rest of our day is this chill.

Monday, June 1, 2009

Took the kids outside and got some good shots. It started to rain before I could get one of the two of them together. Bummer. We were outside for exactly nine minutes before it started to rain. Nine minutes. Anyhow, that's my day. Burger is disc golfing after work so I'm on my own all day. Jacob has swimming later this afternoon, but that's the only plan we have. Emrick outgrew her first pair of shoes and can no longer wear any of her socks because her chubby chub chub ankles get squeezed too tight. So we are currently on the market for girl baby sandals that are bigger than a size newborn but smaller than a size one. Wish me luck.
