My Lucky Day

What could be better than waking up to perfect face every morning? Probably nothing, besides waking up to this face and then finding a Starbucks gift card hidden in the bottom of your wallet. I have no idea how much is on it, but any kind of free Starbucks is amazing. Today must be lucky day! In addition to the Starbucks card, I found a JC Penny's card for $20 and a Younkers card for $6. All of them, lost and forgotten in the bottom of my wallet. Jack pot!

Jacob took a nap today and I thought I was going to be productive and get stuff done and be a rock star. Obviously that didn't happen. I got sucked into a daytime movie with Molly Ringwald on WeTV. It was a terrible movie. The kind of terrible that you can't look away from. I was screaming in my head, "She has Postpartum Depression, people! Help her!" But the actors and actresses couldn't hear me. What a way to spend a nap time...

In other news, this weekend is My Waterloo Days. Parade tomorrow morning at 9:30 if anyone wants to join us! They are also having a carnival this year. We are going to check it out tonight. Should be a heart-stopping good time considering that Burger and I don't go on rides. Especially at carnivals. My brother used to work at a traveling carnival. If people like him are setting up the rides, I'm not risking it... Just kidding, brother, I'm sure you were a terrific carnival worker!

Looking forward to a relaxing weekend with my family. We enjoyed the short week, and I totally wish every week could be three days off four days on. Oh well, at least the weather is getting nicer every day. We are shopping for bug repellent tonight. Emrick is getting a bug net for her car seat/stroller and Jacob is going to need some kind of spray or something. Any suggestions are welcome in my comments section.

Three Months!

Emrick is three months old today! She learned how to roll from her belly to her back today, too! I would lay her on her belly and she would flip right over! But when Daddy came home she refused to show him! What a stinker!

Jacob's First Fishing Trip

Jacob's first fishing trip with Daddy and Grandpa Oldenburger. He did really well. We only saw one fish, that's in the last picture. Just got to pulling it out of the water and it got away! But, at least we saw it. Jacob had a blast! These pictures were taken with the camera on my cell phone because I totally forgot to take my actual camera. Baby brain.

Catch Up!

Jacob eating a chocolate popsicle after our grill-out feast!

Emrick napping on my bed!

Jacob and Emrick hanging out!

The weather has been so super nice here the past few days that we have been camping out at local parks. Jacob could really use the fresh air and exercise! Emrick likes outside, too. She stays in her stroller, hidden from the wind! Last night we grilled out with my parents here at our house. Tonight my parents are taking Jacob to the Youth Pavilion in Waterloo where they have fun activities and things for kids. I have never been there, but my mom said it's really fun! Burger, Emrick, and I will be staying home to rearrange some furniture. I have a dentist appointment to get some teeth fixed today, and I am really not looking forward to it. Hopefully all goes well.

Happy Baby!

Emrick in her exersaucer. I had to put a pillow underneath so her feet could reach, but she doesn't seem to mind! She doesn't love it, but she was kind of interested in the toys for just a minute. We'll have to give her some time to get used to it! But obviously, she's smiling in the top picture so she must like it a little bit at least!

Productive Day

Today, I am being quite productive. Truly. I know it sounds surprising, but it really is true! Emrick slept from 8PM until 7:30AM without waking up once. Not even stirring one bit. We have a vaporizer in our room and I have been using saline nose drops and Baby Vicks Vapor Rub (Thanks Mandy!) and I think she finally could breath clearly last night. She didn't even wake up in the night wanting her paci back. She was probably so tired from all the stuffy fussiness from last week. Since today has been going so well, and it's only Monday, I have hope that the rest of the week will be- just as smooth. Here is a list of things that I have already accomplished today, and it's only 11AM. Thanks Red Bull!
-Washed/dried/folded two loads of laundry
-Washed bottles
-Washed dishes
-Fed both kids breakfast. Emrick twice.
-Bathed/dressed Emrick
-Dressed Jacob
-Swept floors
-Swiffer Wet Jetted floors
-Talked to Mom on phone
-Talked to Jen on phone
-Talked to Megan on phone
-Made Burger's lunch for tomorrow
-Took pictures of Emrick in her exersaucer

A Picture For You~

Today was not the best day for me. I'm grumpy and irritable and poor Burger puts up with my like a champ. To make me feel better I edited this photo of my kids. In real life they drive me nuts, but in pictures they are irresistible!

Eleven Weeks

Emrick was eleven weeks old yesterday. Here are the pictures! She loves her Bumbo seat and thinks it's funny when she can sit next to me and have a conversation. She's starting to like to lay on the floor and play with her toys. She almost rolled over yesterday. She got all the way to her side and almost flipped over to her belly but at the last second ended up rolling back to her back. Getting close though!

We're Better

Yesterday we all learned that I truly cannot bake. I already knew this, but I have to try every once in a while just to remind myself. Today Jacob had a really early nap and woke up much more cheery. He drew me a picture of tracks and then decided to build track. And two seconds later decided he wants to watch Sesame Street and stuck the video in. So Sesame Street it is. I washed all the dirty laundry and went through Emrick's dresser and took out all the clothes that are too small for her now. She's asleep in the swing. I love baby swings more than anything! I am planning on washing dishes here any minute and possibly sweeping floors. I'd hate to all my work today and risk being bored tomorrow.

Update

I am well aware that I posted the same picture twice. Deal with it. At least it's a cutie cute picture of my little blond boy! Yes, the cookie making didn't go the greatest. I think we must have messed up the cookie dough. They all stuck to the pan horribly and there was nothing I could do besides just destroy them. They still taste fine and we have been eating the crumbs off the wax paper and dragging crumbs all over the house. It's been fun. Today is my mom's birthday. Jacob wanted cake, but got crappy cookies instead. Sorry kid.

Why did I think this was a good idea?

Good Morning!

Hope all you moms out there enjoyed you Mother's Day. We had a nice weekend. Burger played some disc golf and I got donuts for breakfast. We accomplished almost nothing, but relaxed a lot and enjoyed each other's company. Jacob still has a bit of a cold. He's a champ, though. Play through the pain! Emrick sees the doctor today for some shots and a weigh in. I'm rather excited to see how much she weighs. She's such a lug of a baby! Chubby chubbiness! We seem to be having a great morning, but it's still rather early! So, you go enjoy your day and I'll wait here to hear all about it when you get back!

Ten Weeks

I forgot about this yesterday. I didn't forget she turned ten weeks, I just forgot to post pictures. So, today you get extra! Aren't you lucky? Ya got some naked baby pics. Always super adorable with chubbiness everywhere! And the top one is her travel swing. She likes it for the lights and music. She prefers it to not actually swing or move at all. She can reach the hanging toys and pulls them to get the music to go again. Are you really surprised that Burger and I produced yet another genius baby? I'm not.

Really? On a Friday?

Yesterday Jacob had a fever. Today a nasty, deep cough. And sneezing, and snotty nose. I feel sad for him to feel sick, but really, did it have to be on a Friday? Now what kind of weekend do I have to look forward to? I think I'll stop at Wal-Mart tonight and look into some cough medicine, even though you're not supposed to give any to kids under the age of six.

Emrick is also grumpy today. She is not snotty and coughing, thank goodness. Just grumpy. She had a hard time sleeping last night, so I think she's just really tired. On Monday morning she goes to the doctor to get her shots. We'll see how much she weighs and how tall she is. She's growing like a weed! In other news, she also has a terrible terrible diaper rash. Tried every diaper cream and nothing works. I vaguely remember going through this with Jacob. Not only with diapers, but now with underwear. Lord, help me. So, if you have any suggestions besides the regular (change her every two hours, diaper cream, let her be naked for a while every day, blah, blah, blah) let me know! I am thinking the doctor is going to have to give us a prescription for her bum.

I am also grumpy today. What else is new? Seriously, it's my new attitude. Everything sucks. I'm tired, I have a headache, and my house is a gigantic disaster. Story of my life. Jacob is loud and never ever stops talking. People tell me that's what two-year-olds do, but I'm pretty sure if they had to deal with the incessant talking of my child for even a few hours they would totally be singing a different tune. He wakes Emrick up, mostly by accident, but sometimes when she's sleeping in her swing and he's in a nasty mood he'll get in her face and say loudly "Emrick! WAKE UP!" Probably just to piss me off. He seems to do a lot of things for that reason these days. But, he's so super cute and innocent looking when he's naughty that you can't stay mad at him! He is camped out on the sofa today. Obviously he doesn't feel well. I am off to clean Dorothy Fish's bowl and maybe some laundry. Enjoy your weekend. I will try.

Fun Pictures

Almost Half Done!

Talking about the fact that today is Wednesday. Thank goodness! Wednesday used to be my favorite day of the week, but it's not so much anymore! All my days kind of run together now, so it really doesn't make much of a difference! Oh well. We were thinking of going to Carlos'O'Kelley's tomorrow night for a half price margarita and some enchiladas. Not sure if we'll see that happen or not! Today is just relaxing and hanging out at home. I am making a roast for dinner. Totally excited to chow that down tonight, with some potatoes!

She is getting so big and strong! She will be ten weeks old on Thursday. Seems like just yesterday she was born. But she's already grown out of so many clothes. Her two month doctor appointment is set for next Monday and she will be given a series of shots. Hopefully all goes well! I took this picture today. Someday soon, we will get smiley girl pictures! She smiles a lot, but we really have to work for them! So for now, you get to look at endless pictures of her serious face!

Catching Up

Last week was really hard being by myself with my two (OMIGOD, two!) beautiful children. Even though my parents are really helpful and basically on-call all week when Burger is gone and my bestest friend Megan will talk to me on the phone 24/7 if that's what I need to stay sane, it's still really hard to have two snotty, sweating, jabbering non-stop little people hanging off of me for a whole week with no Burger for backup! Every time he's gone for school it makes me realize how much I need him, not only to help me with things around the house but also just to talk to and be by. But especially now that there are two (OMIGOD, I'm still in shock, can you tell?) kids, I really get slammed when Burger's gone. I get stressed out really easily and don't sleep well when he's gone, so that doesn't help any! But, we all enjoyed the weekend and having Burger back. Burger and I went to a movie together and grocery shopping with no kids and that was a treat! My mom got a bumper pool table for free from a garage sale and gave it to us, so it's in our backyard and we played that a little this weekend. Jacob and Burger went on a bike ride together. Burger mowed the lawn and killed some wasps. It was a rather enjoyable, laid-back kind of weekend.

Sunday

Today, I am a bit grumpy. So, keeping with the mood, this is what you get:
A LIST OF THINGS I HATE:
1.) People who talk on their phones while driving
2.) People who don't use turn signals
3.) Warm soda
4.) Crying babies
5.) Two year olds who don't listen
6.) Washing dishes/bottles
7.) When people flush the potty when I'm in the shower
8.) Extra baby/belly fat
9.) Not being able to find any clothes that fit me properly
10.) People who pretend to be happy all the time

...For trying to make my baby look like a girl. Maybe she thought the light was too bright. She was sleeping in her swing and then she was fussing and when I looked over this is what I saw! Made me laugh. Hope it helped your day, too!

This guy is super special! He was playing in the yard and came in to bring me a flower for me to smell. He was in awe of this dandelion. Do you remember the days when dandelions never ceased to amaze you?
