Remember to take the trash out. Burger came home from getting off work at midnight and he remembered. He put his lunchbox down and took the trash can to the curb. I'd be lost without him. And surrounded by trash bags, probably...
I went to the movie tonight with my gal pal Megan. We saw Eclipse, the newest in the Twilight series. We're not ginormous fans, but we liked the books and saw the first two movies so kind of felt obliged. I didn't think it was as good as the last one, but it was OK. We always have fun together and that makes any movie seem good! And when I came home my mom had bathed the kids and they were fast asleep in their beds. Which is amazing because Jacob's been sleeping on the couch lately. I don't have it in me to fight him over such a small thing, so that's where he sleeps. Unless Grandma is here to tuck him in, apparently.

Trash Day
Tuesday is trash day here and Burger is working second shift so it's my job this week to take the can to the curb. I keep remembering/forgetting so I decided that if I titled a blog post then it would maybe be sketched in my mind. I try to keep you updated. Because if I forget to take it to the curb I will be really upset. We fill the trash can every week and don't have extra room to go another week! So, you can safely assume that if I don't mention the trash again then I remember to take it to the curb. And if I write a huge post about trash again then I probably forgot. And am upset.
Speaking of trash, I have been thinking a lot about recycling. We recycle pop cans, but that's it. We reuse plastic shopping bags in our bathroom and bedroom trash cans. And when we shop at Aldi's we take our reusable shopping bags. Or anytime we know we'll only be grabbing a few things we take the reusable bags. But for the most part we not huge on recycling. But I think about it a lot. I have no real idea how to start or where to take things once I collect them. We used to have a subscription to the newspaper and one of the reasons I cancelled is because I had all that extra newspaper and had no idea where to take it to recycle! So I usually just kept it in a pile and used it to wrap gifts or line the table when Jacob would do crafts. So, what do you do to recycle and do you have any easy tips for me?

Park
Grandpa playing with the kids at the park.
Grandma watching Jacob in the balance beam. He's a pro at balancing!
Emrick loves loves the sand! She was rolling around and really digging her feet in. When we left she was completely covered and had to have a tub right when we got home. She also got some sand in her mouth and didn't care for it much!
We haven't been going outside nearly as much as we should be because I hate HOT. We traded in the van on Thursday night. So now I have a black 2007 Pontiac Vibe. It feels so much better than the van did. It suits our personality much better and is way more fun to drive!

Celebration!
Burger and the kids eating some cake from Johnson's Bakery to celebrate Father's Day. Burger was thrilled to come home from work yesterday and find that I had brought the toddler bed in to build. But I couldn't figure out how to build it myself. Don't tell him, but I didn't really try that hard! So he came home from work and felt compelled to build it immediately. There are no pictures of Emrick in her new big-girl bed because she likes to jump in it, not sleep in it. We put the kids to bed last night and they were laughing and laughing and we could hear them jumping. Then Emrick would sneak into the living room and laugh like crazy thinking she had gotten away with something until we would escort her back to bed. This went on for about a half hour before we decided to put her back in the crib until she's older! Lucky I'm a seasoned parent and knew better than to take down the crib when I put the bed up. In their teeny tiny room we had Jacob's twin bed, Emrick's toddler bed, and Emrick's baby crib. There was barely enough room to squeeze in there to put the kids to bed! But I was thinking that switching Emrick to a big girl bed would be slightly more difficult than when we switched Jacob. I was right.
Emrick giving Daddy lasagna kisses! She thinks it's hilarious to stuff her face and be the messiest girl ever then demand kisses. And really, who would deny this sweet, beautiful baby lasagna kisses? Or yogurt kisses or mashed potato kisses or spaghetti-o kisses or oatmeal kisses...

Happy Father's Day!
Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there! To celebrate, Burger is working 10 hours today. Yay! We got him an Ipod touch yesterday and it's the coolest thing. Now I want one! Jacob and I are eating donuts for breakfast to celebrate Father's Day even though Burger isn't here. Emrick is sleeping in to celebrate.
We are still looking at cars. We are having a really hard time deciding what we like enough to pay for! On Wednesday are meeting the salesman to drive some more cars.
The kids are great. Emrick is big and yesterday she figured out how to climb up on the kitchen chairs herself. Then the table. Which means we have to keep the table pretty much clear all the time. Unless it's something we want her to destroy!

BUSY!
We have been crazy busy around here. Burger is working long hours because John Deere is on shut down for two weeks. My mom and I are having a garage sale on Saturday. I think we might be clinically insane. I have been researching cars because I want to trade my van in. Or, sell it. So if you know anyone who wants a 2003 Chevy Venture with leather and DVD, send them my way! I really miss driving a car so I am looking at Ford Fusions. They get amazing consumer ratings! We are getting a new kitchen table today, which is really exciting. My friend Megan is moving and won't be needing her big table any more so she is letting us use it until she gets a bigger house. We have been wanting a rectangle table for a while now and I love Megan's because the top is tiled. Woo hoo! I love having good friends. The kids are doing fine. Unusually annoying lately, but fine.

Saturday?
Oh my gosh, I am so bored today! Burger has been working second shift since Wednesday and today is working 8AM-8PM or maybe longer. Possibly working tomorrow, then first shift for the next two weeks. Then back to second shift for who knows how long. Craziness! Kind of hard to get used to and today is taking forever. My parents are out of town and my best friend is out of town and my texting buddy in Kentucky is busy and I HAVE NO ONE TO TALK TO! Yes, I'm complaining. If you read this blog on even a semi-regular basis then you should be used to it.
You may or may not be aware that we are looking at cars to replace the van. I do not like vans, apparently. I told Burger that if we could trade it in then I would drive the new car for 10 years before even considering another new car! We are looking at Ford Fusions right now and I drove one this morning with my dad. We were both impressed. The one I drove had really light interior and that was the only down side. I'm really hoping to be able to buy one with the new Sync technology. It's so cool!
Toy Story 2 is in the PS3 entertaining Jacob and Emrick is sleeping. But none of this will last long. I want to try and find some Crocs for Jacob so we will probably be heading to the mall today. He says he doesn't want any Crocs and that would be fine except he's taken to jumping in puddles lately. Do you have any idea how long it take sneakers and memory foam sandals to dry out?!? I thought one pair of sandals and one pair of sneakers would be more than fine for each kid but I was sadly mistaken. What else is new?

Puddle Jumpers!
Jacob was driving us crazy this evening so we took him to the front yard and encouraged him to run up and down the sidewalk! While running, the kids discovered some puddles from the recent rains. We told Jacob 'No!' But Emrick helped herself, and once she started it we couldn't stop it. So they had a great time stomping in the puddles and laughed together like loons! It was really fun to watch!

Wow
I had a cute picture of my kids at the beach to post, but blogger doesn't seem to be working properly. I tried to post yesterday but it wouldn't let me! So, today you get no pictures. Sorry. But, I can tell you about when we went to the beach on Sunday. We were only there about an hour but it was a really great time. Jacob had a blast and I kept having to tell him not to stick his head under the river water. Gross! And Emrick wanted to stick her face in the water, too. Jacob ran up and down the beach but didn't wear himself out. I don't think that kid can get worn out!
We also went to the My Waterloo Days carnival over the weekend. Jacob won a penguin from the fishing game and Emrick won a ball that Jacob broke later that day. I have been trying to keep the kids busy with playing outside and going to the park. Tomorrow Jacob starts his preschool dance class at the YMCA!
