Dear Pampers

Thank you for the diapers that keep my daughter rash-free. Thank you for the box that entertained my children for almost an hour. It was a joy to watch them play in an empty box together and learn how to be brother and sister. We will work more on turn taking, or maybe next time buy two boxes of diapers.

Odd

I have no complete thoughts today. Nothing to make an actual blog post, not that my posts are usually a complete topic anyhow. But today especially my thoughts are broken and random so to highlight the fact that I am not thinking properly, I will be posting with bullet points. Have fun with this one, people!

-We had to stay late late late at work because someone called in sick and another someone had to leave early to catch the bus.

-Emrick keeps ripping holes in her leggings and tights from crawling so now she hardly has any.

-I want to go to Target solely to find new leggings but am nervous about it because a lot of stores are putting out spring weather wear and I cannot put my baby in capri leggings in February.

- Jacob played play dough for almost a full two hours at work today.

-Almost every day I argue and fight with Jacob to get him to take a nap while Emrick is sleeping and almost every day when I go get Emrick out of her crib and change her diaper Jacob falls asleep on the sofa. Seriously.

-I wish someone would bring me a Java Chiller from Sonic. I might have to go completely out of my way to get one on the way to Target.

-Jacob is almost always the only boy in the on-site room at the Y.

-Jacob's gymnastics was cancelled last night due to one instructor being sick and the other one not wanting to teach it by herself. I found this especially annoying because there are three instructors who teach this class.

-I am trying to catch up on laundry but every time I get some washed there's a whole new basket of dirty.

-I wash a full sink of dirty dishes by hand usually twice a day.

-Emrick is eleven months old today!

Hard to Keep Up

We had a fun and really relaxing weekend. Jacob finally got his much needed hair cut and Emrick got new 'walking' shoes since she's really taken off. We rented movies and watched 'Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs' and really liked it! Burger and I watched 'Sunshine Cleaning' without the kids and we really loved that, too. So the rented movies were a big hit! Other than that we did all the same boring stuff. Mostly grocery shopping. We spent $75 on toilet paper, diapers, wipes, and formula. So ridiculous! I am actually thinking of quitting the whole formula thing and putting whole milk in her bottle. I'm a bit nervous about it but she eats plenty of food. We went to work today then stopped at Hy-Vee to buy Jacob a bag of marshmallows. Yes, we dragged out behinds into Hy-Vee in the middle of a snow storm just to get marshmallows. Because that's what kind of mom I am. Totally cool and awsome. Just ask Jacob!

The Hat

Here is the hat my mom's friend made for Jacob. I know it's not the best picture, but that's all I could do this morning before rushing out to work. We stopped at McDonald's to get me a coffee and Jacob some apple dippers. I don't even know if he would actually eat them but this morning he said he really wanted them so I was going to get them for him. Anyhow, they asked me before I ordered if I was going to pay cash or credit. I don't ever carry cash so I told them credit. The lady said something about how it was fine since the machine is working now. So I pulled up to the window to pay and hand her my card and she hands it right back to me saying that the machine isn't working and asked if I had cash or a check book. Uh... We left with out our stuff. I think it's time I start carrying just a bit of cash with me or occasions like this. It's now after lunch and I'm still just a little miffed about the situation. I will have to make Burger stop on his way home from work to get me some coffee.

Boring Wednesday

My schedule was changed at work so now the kids and I go every morning. It's fine, just takes some getting used to since I'm usually lazy in the mornings. Today we went and the kids played. For the last two days Jacob has been the only boy in the room! He doesn't like that too much and he gets bored and agitated. When we left today there was a lovely freezing rain and the windshield of the car was coated in ice. Super fun! I left the kids in the Y with the other teacher, she stayed late just to help me out. I started the car and had to leave it running for a few minutes with the defrost on to loosen up the ice so I could scrape it off. Then my mom met me at the grocery store so I could run in and get some bread and diapers while she sat with the kids. One of her friends at school knit Jacob the cutest hat yesterday! I will have to try to post a picture of him wearing it. I love knit things! Anyhow, freezing rain is in the weather forecast all night and all day tomorrow so I just might experience the same thing over again. Looking forward to it, or something like that.

One Whole Week

Wow, it's been one entire week since my last post! I swear, I thought about posting almost every single day but just never got around to it! Ah, well. You guys will get over it. My life's not that exciting to be blogging about anyhow.

In the news first, Emrick walks!! She has been holding on to things and cruising for a while now and has taken those few odd steps here and there but not she is really getting courageous. She will take just a few steps between toys or to get from me to Burger. She is also able to stand up in the middle of the room all on her own. She's growing so big and I'm super excited to start buying her all those too cute little girl walking shoes!

We took Jacob to see the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks last night and it was amazing. He has only been to the movie theater two other times. Once with Grandma and Grandpa Hild and once with all of us. Emrick stayed home with Grandma and Grandpa Hild and Burger and I took Jacob. He has been asking to see this movie since the commercials first came out and now he collects the toys from McDonald's happy meals! So we took him and he sat and watched the entire thing in amazement! When the credits started rolling he wasn't ready to go so we watched the credits to the end. On the way home we talked about what our favorite parts were and it's so easy for me to forget that he's his own little person now!

Chub

I know I have been picture happy lately, but nobody minds. Right? I took this one of Emrick the other day while she was napping. This is how she sleeps and I think it's the cutest thing in the world. Naturally. Bad mommy for having a bottle in there with her and she also has a pillow. Who's going to call Child Services first? On a different note, I would like to wish my nephew, Ryne, a happy third birthday today! Hope everyone is well, and ready to start the work week tomorrow.

Popsicle Stains

Emrick with her very first Popsicle. She stole it from my hands when I wasn't paying attention! She ate it but wasn't a huge fan. This was last week. But I remembered it yesterday because she fell and banged her mouth on a chair and was bleeding and bleeding, poor baby! So I scooped her up but what are you supposed to do with mouth blood? She wouldn't let me look to see where it was coming from (lip, tongue...) so I did the first thing that came to mind. And that was to grab a Popsicle out of the freezer and try to ease her mouth pain. She would have no part of it! Apparently she is not a fan of Popsicles. As a side note, spell check highlighted Popsicle to let me know that it's supposed to be capitalized!

It's been a while...

Sorry it's been so long, friends! We have been a little busy but not really. Mostly I'm just lazy. And, everyone around us is falling ill with a stomach bug. Probably the same bug we had last week. Not cool. So I have been cleaning and cleaning the house like a crazy person. Hello Lysol! Which reminds me that I am almost out. Also out of laundry detergent. I think we might have to run to Target later.

Burger is gone at school this week. I explained to Jacob that he will be coming home Friday night. We have been talking about the days of the week a little bit, but he's not been too interested. Now he keeps asking if today is Friday yet! Poor boy. I think I need to buy him a calendar!

Since no post would be complete without a story of Emrick, here is your fix: Jacob was watching Spongebob and when Emrick heard the theme song she booked it over to the TV so she could watch it and dance along. She loves that song. Once the song is over she's done. She doesn't like the actual show, just the song part! Jacob likes the show, which bums me out. I don't really care for Spongebob.
